One loss - One win

Today was the first day of the 12U tournament in Manassas, Virginia. The Pinnacles entered the tournament as the #1 seed which was very exciting. We had two games today, the first at 4:00 p.m. so we arrived around 2:30. After warming up and a light practice, the boys hung out until the game started.
We lost the first game and it was really hard to watch the boys basically give it away since they have so much potential. This was also our first 'shut out' for the whole season. Final score 6-0.
The second game was a lot better, they did show up to play ball! They pulled together as a team both offensively and defensively. A much better game to watch even though it was really, really cold! Some of us were even wrapped up in our sleeping bags, lol!

We are staying at the Greenville Farm which is great. It's just about 13 miles from the field and very quiet.
Tomorrow's another day - game at 11:00 a.m. so it's off to bed for the two players we have but not without giving JP a hard time about his hair. He brought all the necessities except for a comb - of course we thought he looked like a rock star so asked him to play his guitar, lol!

Crystal Grottoes

Today Chase had a field trip. Typically I don't go however there was absolutely NO question with this one since they were going into 'caverns' and I am soo claustrophobic.

While I stayed home and worked, Ronnie went along with the WMS 6th grade class. This was right up his alley as this was civil war related. He quickly came to know the bus driver, Mr. Harbaugh who was a civil war buff since age 6 when his parents drove him across Burnside Bridge in 1962. Back then this bridge was accessible by a paved road however since then it has been restored by the National Park Service. Without Mr. Harbaugh the field trip would have been 'just another field trip'. The students even chipped in and bought him a cup of coffee :)

Kick-off for the Holidays!!

Thanksgiving is a special time for us. Typically the official dinner is at our home and we love it!! Our dinner has even been known to expand to those that don't have family close by. It is just the best. My Mom, sister and I typically prepare food then gather mid to late afternoon for the feast. After dinner it's always 'picture time' then we dig into those sale papers brought along by my sister. I still remember the year we planned and plotted how we would get those Cabbage Patch dolls! oh my....

One tradition that seems to stick is the turkey fryer. This will be our 5th year frying the turkey. It is pretty interesting and Ronnie tends to try different techniques. While the turkey is frying, he and anyone else that wants to join sits around the fryer and enjoys a cold beverage ;)

Wonder what this Thanksgiving will bring?!

Day Four - Blogging for Scrapbookers

Having trouble finding something to blog about?! Not usually my problem because there is always something going on around here but I'm sure it's possible. I always look for subjects/events that you will be interested in but here's one that may just be for me.....

As we plan for our weekend 'road trip' for the baseball playoffs, Bingo comes to mind. Why, you ask? Well it's a different kind of BINGO that Ronnie was introduced to by one of his ball players. Here's how it goes. Whenever you see a yellow car, you are supposed to say "BINGO". You know, there really aren't that many yellow cars, ha! It does get pretty competitive and you know Ronnie is all about being competitive so he changed it up a bit...when you see a yellow car, you yell BINGO but the first would be B, second I and so on. The first one to actually get BINGO is the winner!

Try it the next time you are on the road and have kids that get bored (or even adults)!

Day Three - Blogging for Scrapbookers

Oh my - today's assignment is to highlight five of my favorite things (right now). Wow, I have so many "favorites" that I have been called HIGH MAINTENANCE, ha!

Here's one ....I love flipflops and hate to put them away. I wear them as long as possible, well into November most of the time. It's funny because there was a lady at church that commented on my flipflops last year but I was sure to let her know that God really doesn't care what's on my feet :)

LOVE IT! Yes, I am a believer! Once you go MAC, you never go back. There are a lot of differences that you must adjust to but I am way over that and can't imagine life (or blogging) without it.
So convenient....yes, this was certainly a great investment. My husband called me one day and asked if I knew about the Sony Bookreader. A co-worker of his had it and he just knew I would want one...he was sooo right! The very next day Mendie and I found them (yes, she drove 30 miles at lunch) and we were downloading books within 24 hours. Am I spoiled, absolutely! (thanks Joyce!)
With this new class I have been able to unwrap some of my new Cricut cartridges. This machine has been used for many things over the past year (banner for the Cub Scouts, scarves for Sunday School, posters, signs; endless possibilities!) I still want to adventure into the vinyl letters for Kayden's wall but haven't accomplished that. Gotta work on that list :)
Last but not least, I mentioned in one of my past posts that I love browsing through Paula Deen's magazines (thanks to my sister). With the holidays right around the corner, this one has some really great ideas for Thanksgiving Dinner, gifts and Christmas cookies....yum!
I want to wrap up by sharing with you my bff's blog. ! She started Favorite Things Friday months ago (she's high maintenance too). We alternate between her carnival and Kelly's Korner.
I hope this tells you a little bit about me and a few of my favorite things. See ya tomorrow!

Wordless Wednesday...

HO HO HO!! Day 2 - Blogging for Scrapbookers -

We celebrated Brittany's 21st birthday by going to dinner at Red Lobster. (I love it when we're all around the table, whether at home or out.) Of course Kayden was a hit (as usual) and a family sitting close to us commented on how beautiful she is. Once we started talking, the man knew alot about our area as they are friends with one of our neighbors. He also went on to tell us he is 'Santa' at the Apple Blossom Mall. How cool?! It was ironic that Kayden was dressed in red that night and we actually joked about that earlier in the evening. Of course I did what I always do and pulled out my camera asking if we could take pictures. He was game and Kayden loved him, ha! Now, hopefully she will still like Santa next month!

I was trying to keep this a secret but it is sooo hard and my girls all said I wouldn't be able to. So here you have it - my scrapbook page for today's lesson.

Day One - Blogging for Scrapbookers

I know....most of your are going to crack up when you read on and find out that I have signed up for an on-line class! I just have so much time on my hands that I wanted to find something else to get into; yeah right!! And while it is Monday, this is NOT one of my crazy "not me, Monday" moments.

Today is the first day of my class - I have lots of classmates who will take this journey with me and I know we're going to have loads of fun! With Blogging and Scrapbooking some of my all time favorites, how can I fail?! If any of you are interested, sign up here!!

I took these pictures a while back when I finished organizing my 'scrap' room and decided to get started on getting caught up. I will admit that while I'm not caught up, I have completed a few projects so YAY! me.

So stay tuned, I will have an assignment each day for the next three weeks. And to all my new classmates - Hello and I'm looking forward to learning some new techniques.

Only two...

of the team but just had to brag! Today was the last game of the season and the Pinnacles are in 1st place! Yippee!! Now we'll be off to Manassas next weekend for the tournament!

This has been a tough season with all the rain we have had and a few of the games had to be cancelled. Today was another of the 'questionable' games but the team persevered. Without the help of the parents pulling together to work on the field, today wouldn't have been possible so - Thank you parents!! Your hard work paid off - see ya in Manassas!!

Twenty-one TODAY!

Wow, where has the time gone? I say that but then look back over the years and realize all the blessings you have brought into our lives. Honestly, it's been a pretty adventurous time. You have grown into such a beautiful young lady and we are very proud. Wouldn't change any of the past 21 years for anything (ok, maybe one of them, haha) We hope you have a wonderful, safe, fun legal birthday!
By the way, where are we going for dinner?!
