Just another day -

As usual, I was in a little bit of a rush to get to the airport today only to find this -

Which up close looked like this -

And ended up like this -

So the 'locals' will know exactly what this is and where it's heading! Yep - the new bridge in Jefferson County. Wow! It was actually pretty cool.

I followed it all the way up the mountain and it was pretty interesting to see it this long span of concrete make all the turns.

Of course through it all I had two of my favorite things -

Of course - my unsweetened 'kids size' tea and my camera.

The trucks finally pulled over for us to go around - and of course for me to make it for my flight, ha!

I had to pick up a new book in the airport and I am hooked! I'm already over 1/2 finished and it comes with a cd with songs that connect to each chapter. L O V E it! I just might get finished so I can leave it here for a friend that usually sends me books =)

Now this is not something I typically see.....a plane?

out my window? I was a little nervous watching that plane land almost the exact same time as us, just a runway away....

But I'm here, all safe and sound...here's a snapshot of what my evening looks like -

Yep, that's typically what I do all evening....coffee, ice cream, two laptops and cell phone. Not very interesting, huh?! Just another day (away from home).

Home away from home -

When I travel for work I have the luxury of sitting at one of my employee's desks. Her work space is a lot different than mine. My desk is usually pretty clear with the exception of my daily calendar, reports and notebook that I am currently using. I do have some pictures of my family, some hand lotion, gum and a few other 'personal' things. But nothing touches this -

Her walls are pretty full of things that she loves - I even sent her one of Chase's Soap Box Derby buttons so maybe his little face will be there tomorrow!

Yes, she still has a poinsettia on her desk =)

and look at all the toys -

oh wait! Look what stars at me as I type, lol!

oh but I do like this guy, too!

hmmm is she trying to tell me something?!

And this one, did make me laugh!

I have to tell you that I have come to like this space! And the best part about it is she keeps the BEST chocolate on hand. I wonder what will be waiting for me when I arrive (wink*wink)!

Comfort....

Here's some of my secrets to finding 'comfort' when I travel.....

Yep - that's popcorn in bed, ha!

A good book -

I have the Sony Reader but finished up my book over the weekend so reverted to a back-up =)

Some Nancy Grace to fall asleep to -

And....ya'all know how I L O V E crosses. I picked this up in the airport. This is the same store I picked up my cross stretch ring last trip -

Then of course there's this....my all time comfort!

It keeps me "connected' no matter how many miles I'm really away.

All these things help to keep my mind occupied. Unfortunately today all the 'things' in the world can't keep my mind off this guy -

Please pray for Greg....he's going through a tough, tough time right now and needs all the prayers we can give.....we need nothing shy of a small miracle.

Tubby Smith!

I have repeatedly admitted my lack of sport knowledge, right? Just trying to set the stage -
I'm back in Minneapolis this week, having dinner with one of my employees and her husband at
TGIFridays'. There's some major activity going on. Yep - none other than Tubby Smith. Who? I ask? I am quickly brought up to speed that he is/was the coach of the MN Gophers! Ok people...I'm sorry.... I admit I am sports illiterate....

But - while my home away from home looks like this...
I can still be thinking about the love of my life being back home, right? So I get a note on a napkin that I am POSITIVE will soon be hanging on the bar wall..
Yep - none other than "THE" Tubby Smith ....
So there you have it babe - I'll make sure the napkin stays crisp and clean until I can deliver =)

No place like home...

When the weather is like this -

But tonight I would be 1200 miles from home, in a hotel room. Luckily I have my laptops so I can 'work' and 'play' where it's nice and warm. But I would much rather be sitting by the fire drinking hot chocolate and playing a game with the kids, reading, scrapbooking or maybe even sewing....there's just no place like home. I can't forget how grateful I am to have a job, a good one at that and how fortunate we are. There's so much more to be thankful for than me pouting in this little room, huh?
