On Wednesday....

while Chase, Cierra & Courtney were at the ball game, we found a winery just 5 minutes from the field. We were hoping for a better 'find' than Sunday (that story will be shared soon) and our hope was fulfilled -
The place was BEAUTIFUL!
and it looks like we picked the perfect day -
The weather was great so we decided to take the 'walking tour' while sipping on one of their wines -
And then we heard the 'crickets'. That's Chase and Cierra's ring tone, lol! Washington was winning by 10 which meant the game would be over early. Earlier than we thought. The ladies at the winery were very nice. Placing our wine in the refrigerator and saving our map.

We grabbed lunch for the kids and headed back. They were such good sports =)
They even enjoyed the weather and atmosphere - Chase took advantage of getting pictures of the Koi -
This is truly a beautiful vineyard. If you are ever in Myrtle Beach and like wine, this is a MUST!

Wordless Wednesday

Lazy days...(Tuesday)

in Myrtle beach....but isn't that what vacation is all about?!

sleeping in late
enjoying coffee
watching The Today Show
breakfast
loading up the 'cart' and heading to the beach which by the way, is actually very busy these days.....
walking along the shore, looking for some unique shells and of course, those famous MB shark teeth -

Ronnie did actually find a few teeth =)

It has been a little windy/breezy this week and from this looks of this, I'm not thinkin' he realized just how windy it was, lol!
A walk up to the lake without my camera wasn't a good idea.  This 35 lb carp was this guy's nice catch!

And invitations we can't pass up....Cierra wanting to take us out to a Pelican's ball game.  She would pay if we would drive, ha!  Sounds like a plan.
They didn't quite win but it was a beautiful evening for a ball game.

And speaking of beautiful weather.....we have had four straight days of sunshine and four perfect sunsets.  Lovin' this weather!

Spring + Myrtle Beach =

BASEBALL!

And it was a beautiful day to watch the games. Not a cloud in the sky. After some breakfast, we headed to North Myrtle Beach High School to watch Washington.
Some of our favorite players include this guy -
And then this one -
who scored one of the four runs -
Their first game and a victory; Yay! They play several more games this week so good luck Washington Patriots!
We grabbed some lunch then headed over to Broadway at the Beach to watch the Jefferson Cougars play -
Of course we have some fav's here, too -
We even have a favorite fan =)
And.......a WIN for them, too!
More games for them this week, too. Good Luck Cougars!

Another perfect evening for chilling out by the lake -
And now we're 3 for 3 - LOVE these sunsets!

Spring Break 2012

This year's Spring break wasn't about packing the RV,  meals with characters or even standing in lines for the rides.  It wasn't about Disney at all.  You see this year we decided to go south of the border (aka Myrtle Beach to us) -

Cierra was invited to vacation with her bff which meant Chase, Ronnie and I would travel alone.  After some thought, we decided to head to the same, warm place and found a home just a few streets away from the one that Cierra would be staying.  After much planning and a little uncertainty (since we hadn't stayed here before), we packed the car and hit the road on Saturday morning.  After about 8 1/2 hours (and NO traffic =), we arrived safely -
and to say this place is HUGE, really doesn't describe it so I cut this excerpt to help you better understand all about this park -
Today, Ocean Lakes features 893 campsites and 2,554 annual lease sites on 310 oceanfront acres with nearly one mile of beachfront, four bathhouses, and more than 360 employees in the height of the camping season. It is the largest campground on the east coast and one of the largest in the United States. On an average seasonal day Ocean Lakes has 25,000 - 35,000 guests enjoying the countless amenities that have made it a local favorite and a national vacation destination. “We could do a lot of things with 310 oceanfront acres in Myrtle Beach, and we’ve had many lucrative offers, but we believe that everyone - the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker - should have the privilege of enjoying God’s beautiful ocean,” explains Nelson Jackson, during an interview when he was 88.

that's pretty big, huh?  Here's a map of the area -
but no worries.....within a few hours all the kids had navigated their way around and were very familiar with where all their friends are.  This just happens to be where many of the families from our county are staying for baseball tournaments for both our high schools.  Hmmmmm.....now it all makes sense why this would be a perfect place to vacation according to Cierra, ha!

In years past, bikes were a necessity.  Seems things have changed now that Chase and Cierra are older......this would be the new means of motoring -

and every night they 'ride the strip'.....lots of fun for them!  And everyone else -

In just a day, we have seen lots of things within these 310 acres.....

beautiful homes

campers made into homes

what a cool bar!

We watched family pictures be taken -

a baseball game -

kites being flown -

flip flops nearly float away, lol!

maybe they should have been carried like these -

we've even had our "cheeseburger in paradise"!

and, we're two for two right now for beautiful sunsets -

and for just a little while, our only worry in the world was if the tide was going to reach our blanket!

Have a great week ya'all!

Friday's Feature -

I know, it's been a while but.....I'm trying to get back on track!

This week we're featuring a restaurant. One that's been around since 1963 with one of the owners who is now 89 still working there -
It's a very 'busy' yet quaint place. And by busy, I mean it's full of stuff. Antiques, stained glass, beautiful wood all kinda crammed in there.
But their crab soup is wonderful -
and the placemats?! Well, they provide four different versions of 'grace'. You pick =)
check out the 'antique' cash register -
and who wouldn't want to get their picture taken with this guy, ha!
Doesn't the front door look welcoming?!
But bottom line....these two are super excited.....
and they wouldn't have cared where they had their meal because this time tomorrow, they'll be down south and the only thing they have to worry about is if the tide's gonna reach their chair!

Happy Friday ya'all!
