Two weeks ago...

It was Valentine's Day.  Lucky me....it turned into a Valentine's Weekend....woohoo!!

Friday evening after presents, flowers and a nice bottle of wine, watching country music videos and just hangin' out in the bar, we had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.

Not much else to say but yummy!  Perfect!  quaint!  Romantic!

Saturday was a little bit back to the grind, Ronnie worked and I got my 'chores' done around the house.  Then we headed off to Stone Tower to the 'rescheduled' Valentine's Day night.

Very similar adjectives from the prior night.

And Sunday....well, we had breakfast at another of our fav breakfast spots.

So all in all....it was a pretty nice weekend!  Time sure does fly though - it's already two weeks and tomorrow is March 1st.  Who's with me in wishing for Spring, warm weather, no snow in the forecast and temps above freezing?

I'm sharing a slideshow of some of our pics.  Hope you enjoy!

Happy Friday my friends =)

TBT

Just 'throwing back' seven years but it really is hard to believe it's been that long since our second trip to St. John.

Our 13th anniversary was our first trip  and after that visit we were HOOKED!  Love, love, LOVE that place and have been back just a 'few' times since, LOL.

Love the blue water, white sand and beautiful, BEAUTIFUL sights you see underwater.  Haven't found a better place yet, ha!

Stalkers...

well, not really but I do feel like this snow is just following me everywhere!

Yesterday it was in the 50's at home.  I left the house around 7 this morning only to miss my flight out of Dulles so had to drive to Reagan.

The good thing was a direct flight AND I get home earlier Thursday.  It's really not so bad there - pretty view.

And I loved the flag flying - I can only imagine how many soldiers have walked through this airport to meet their loved ones....

But 3 hours later and starting our  descent, it was WHITE.  ALL white.  Yuck.

I checked in and headed to the mall (because I just can't sit in my room all night, ha).  I shopped for a few hours then poof -

This is what it looks like out on the roads -

At least I was only a few blocks from my hotel where I'm getting warm with some dinner now -

But....I'm here and will make the best of it -  I'll visit some of my favorite places  -

and make a few wishes -

all the while wishing I was back in the country, sigh.....but It's Tuesday....one day closer to the Thursday =)

FAST but FUN!

That's how best to describe our weekend.... First on the agenda was a birthday celebration for my father-in-law -

Cheers, ha! and he even has his own mug.  (no, it doesn't take much, lol)

We had dinner in honor of his special day at Cress Creek

Yummy food and even some pretty good wine -

and of course my Mother-in-law loves her Margaritas....

These two even joined us -

And my FIL was wished a happy birthday by many.  Even this special lady -

who just happens to be the owner - here's an older picture....

Pretty cool, huh?!

And on Saturday?  Well....I spent most of the day prepping for the Super Bowl of Nascar - The DAYTONA 500.  Ronnie worked -

and all their efforts are certainly starting to pay off - The Rotruck building is looking' pretty good!

We were able to spend a few hours in one of our favorite bars =)

Yep, Crockett's tavern.  We love rocking in our 'old people's chairs' and listening/watching the country videos.  We even had some company....

We kept saying 'after the next one'.....which turned into watching the Lionel Ritchie special.

I could have sat there all night (we did record so can catch up later) but we were hungry so  grabbed some Japanese.  It was kinda late AND we had a coupon so that typically means poor service.  But, the funniest thing to me was this -

out of toilet paper?

oh, it's ok - just look hanging on the wall.  Seriously?!  who does that?!

Sunday morning it was off to breakfast at one of our fav local places but not until after we dropped Skipper off for his first grooming.  He was looking' kinda shabby, lol.

oops - didn't get a 'after' pic so that will have to come.

Then back home to get the food ready -

the Pomegranate vodka gummy bears...yum

gotta fill up the cooler -

and then just sit back and relax....

oh until laps 38 when the rain came and the potential of tornados =(

So I took a break and went to a memorial service for Dad -

I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be a service for all the people during the past year that have 'transitioned' to their new life.  The church was beautiful!

Of course I made it back home before anything changed.  Rain, rain, rain.  Boo.  But the company was great - we talked.  We laughed.  We told stories.  Good friends are truly a blessing.  And then the time came for them to go home and us to clean up.

The rain moved out.  The track dried and the race started about 9.  I was able to stay awake and watch and boy was I glad!  GO JR!  I know that win made Ronnie very happy.  He dug out his old pics and some of his autographed die cast and updated his FB.  Whew....'bout time JR!  Let's hope this is a sign of a good season.

And....I can't help but think about my Dad, too.  He loved Jr and would have been soooo happy!  We did chuckle that the memorial service was the same day as the race.  He would have been furious and not gone.  He would have said 'them cats are crazy!'.  LOL.  Gotta love all the good we can remember.

So here we are.  Back to Monday and I'm off to Des Moines.  Have a great week ya'all.  Counting down to when I'm back home on Friday eve.  xoxo

Two in one week?!

So Tuesday was National Wine Day and today?! funny you ask....

it's NATIONAL MARGARITA DAY!

I'm not really a fan but think it's a really pretty drink.  Here's what I found when I researched all about the "margarita", ha!

We pay tribute and honor the margarita on this special day of celebration.  We so deeply respect and value its place in our history that we have set aside Feb. 22 of every year as National Margarita Day.
Loved and consumed by millions, friends and families around the world honor this sacred tequila, triple sec and lime drink every year on February 22.
There is much debate as to the exact individual responsible for inventing the classic margarita, although it was during the 1930’s or 1940’s.  Frozen margaritas were invented later in 1970’s when an inventive bartender converted a soft serve ice cream unit into a frozen margarita machine.  Whether you prefer a classic margarita on the rocks or frozen, it is the most common tequila based cocktail in the United States today.  Hence National Margarita Day!
Are out looking for the best margarita?  Best is relative!  The margarita has developed into so many different flavors and varieties, each differing slightly depending on region.  A few of the more popular flavors include Strawberry Margarita, Mango Margarita, Limeade Margarita, Watermelon Margarita, Pomegranate Margarita, Raspberry Margarita and Blackberry Margarita.
National Margarita Day was started to celebrate the margarita, plain and simple.   Friendship, good times and memories of somewhere warmer are all great reasons to enjoy a margarita.
Spread the gift and experience of National Margarita Day by joining our Facebook fan page or follow us on Twitter!

So get out there and celebrate Margarita day!  (drink one for me =)

Gentlemen.....START YOUR ENGINES!

I know Spring is on the way when the Nascar season kicks off. LOVE IT! And even more perfect is that they changed the Duals to run on Thursday evening instead of during the day.  YAY!

Of course this would be a year we don't go and temps are perfect =( Oh well, right?! I can't help but think about my Dad though because he is really the one that got me into Nascar. I remember when he went to some of his first races and made every effort to convince us that we needed to buy a camper and come along. After a few years, we did just that, ha!

And....the tradition lives one. While we really don't go to many races anymore, it would be fun to hit a few of the closer ones because truth be known....it is kinda fun LOL. So here's to a great season!

And i'm really excited about Sunday....the Daytona 500 will be on all the TV's @ Crockett's Tavern. WOOHOO!
