Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time.....while I was grabbing some water, ice and snacks I ran into a friend who just happened to have tickets to the Heritage Arts and Crafts, lucky us! We were going to go anyway but she saved us $14 (thanks Cathy).
We made sure the kids were ok - (they were swimming with Kayden, Ash and Babe), then packed a cooler (and canoe) and off we went - it wasn't quite as hot as last year and not nearly as crowded so we were able to walk through all the tents, picking up some of our regular, twice a year picks.
We picked up a Christmas present...watched pottery being made
Wooden bowls being carved -
We headed out - See ya in the Fall!
And we're off.....to the River =)
We paddled up stream a mile or so -
then floated back down stream....look, no work, just sit back and relax! Oh, until the wind shifted and we started floating up stream, ha!
Look at all the roots from the recent flooding -
We had heard two trains go by so decided to wait for the next one. We calculated it should be about 1/2 hour or 45 minutes.
So we just hung out for a while and then got excited when we heard the train whistle! (pathetic, I know =)
It was a beautiful train.....old style passenger train. Uh oh...my card was full so I had to hurry up and delete some but was only able to capture the end (ugh!). Oh well...guess we'll just have to go back and wait for another one!
It was a great day, to say the least and I think we got off the river just in time as storms came rolling through shortly after we pulled the canoe out.
